
The Lynchburg Police Department's "West Building" is located at 805 Court St. in beautiful historic downtown Lynchburg. The city purchased this building from Mr. Eric Spain in 1995. After some renovation and modifications the police department's Crime Prevention, Personnel and Training, and Investigation units moved into their new home in 1997.


Lt. George Royal is in charge of our Crime Prevention
Unit. Lt. Royal is a 23-year veteran of police work. He began
his faithful career as a cadet with us and worked his way through the ranks. Lt.
Royal came to the
Crime Prevention Unit from the East Division of our field operations division.

Officer John Carey is our Community Relations Officer.
Officer Carey is a 12-year veteran of police work and came to the Lynchburg
Police Department after serving 5 years with the Lynchburg City Sheriff's Office.
Officer Carey is one of our Crime Prevention Specialists and assists our
tactical team as a hostage negotiator.
Mrs. Cindy Kozerow is our Community Services Coordinator.
After 8 years of faithful service,
she was given the task of overseeing our Neighborhood Watch Program which she has
mastered.
Mrs. Kozerow is the friendly voice you hear every time you call our office.


Officer Chris Wheeler is a DARE Instructor. Chris is a
17-year veteran of police work and came to Lynchburg
from Buena Vista Police Department. Officer Wheeler was the School Resource Officer
at Sandusky Middle School
but saw the light and made the change to DARE after some gentle persuasion from his peers.

Officer Chris Furlough is also one of our DARE Instructors and
is a 25-year veteran of police work.
Officer Furlough came to the LPD from the Chesapeake Police Department after serving a
respectable 21 years. After serving a short stint in our field operations he was
assigned as
a School Resource Officer at Linkhorne Middle School prior to joining the DARE team.



Officer Adam Sexton is the SRO at E.C. Glass High School.
Officer Sexton was the SRO at
Sandusky Middle School but transferred to Glass two years ago. Officer Sexton is a
5-year veteran
of the LPD.

Officer Jerry Mayberry is the SRO at Heritage High School.
Officer Mayberry was also the previous SRO at
Sandusky Middle School before transferring to Heritage high. Officer Mayberry is a
11-year veteran of the LPD,
one of our Crime Prevention Specialists and is a member of our Tactical Team.


Officer Gary Fink is the SRO at Dunbar Middle School for
Innovation. Officer Fink is a 6-year
veteran of the LPD. Officer Fink has been an SRO for three years and has served his
entire
tenure at Dunbar Middle School.

Officer E.G. Ferron is assigned to Linkhorne Middle School.
Officer Ferron is an avid cross country runner and bicycle rider.
He is alos in charge of the bicycle team for the police department.
Officer Ferron began his career with the department in 2000 and this is his first year as
an S.R.O.
Officer Ferron is very implemental is the bicycle helmet program we have as well.

Officer Paul Cole is the SRO at Dunbar Middle School and is a
14-year veteran of the LPD. Officer Cole
came to the Crime Prevention Unit after serving a lengthy career as both a beat officer
and
our telephone reporting unit. This is Officer Cole's first year as an SRO.
